Choosing the right instructor
If you are considering starting Pilates or changing studios then you need to make sure you choose the right people to work with.
Before you choose an instructor or studio, consider what your goals are for doing Pilates and find out a little more about their training, experience and services.
Not all Pilates Instructors receive the same level of training. There are short courses geared to group fitness instructors and physiotherapist that require only a few hours of training.
All fully qualified Pilates instructors are required to complete a comprehensive training that includes basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology, theoretical lectures, written and practical examination, and a minimum of 300 hours instructor experience between observation, assistant teaching, mentoring and self-mastery.
No matter what your goals are, it is important that you know if your instructor is comprehensively trained in Pilates, has relevant experience and training in the area of expertise and the kind of service that you are looking for, knows how to deliver a personalised program and how to progress you safely.
For you piece of mind, all instructors who are part of Search for Pilates are comprehensively trained and required to be members of one of the Pilates Professional Organisations, who are very strict on their requirements of membership.
